ELECMI launches the first competitive call of 2027

ELECMI launches the first competitive call of 2027

The application period to request access to electron microscopy equipment opens on November 3, 2026.
Selected proposals will receive free access to the facilities.

This call is aimed at both the R&D&I sector and the business community. Its goal is to facilitate the use of cutting-edge scientific instrumentation, essential for materials analysis and characterization at a European level.

Access to these facilities will be free of charge for applications that receive an outstanding score in the scientific-technical section from the evaluation committee.

Available equipment and access conditions

The call is open to the R&D&I sector and the business world. Access is offered to the following unique equipment: ultra-high-resolution transmission electron microscopes (UHR-TEM), dual-beam ion and electron microscopes, (cryo)-Dual-Beams, and local probe microscopes (JT-STM). All of these are state-of-the-art facilities for materials analysis and characterization at a European level, and may be used free of charge if the application receives a high scientific-technical rating.

Application conditions

In order to optimize the management and processing of proposals, a separate application must be submitted for each piece of equipment. For example, a project that requires lamella preparation followed by TEM analysis involves the use of two instruments: FIB and TEM. In this case, if both instruments are requested, two separate applications must be registered (one for each instrument). This measure speeds up technical follow-up and ensures a more efficient evaluation.
