Desarrollan nuevos nanomateriales con aplicaciones biológicas y ambientales avanzadas

El ensayo demuestra el efecto de los nuevos nanomateriales, basados en óxido de titanio dopado, en la generación de nuevos vasos sanguíneos en modelos animales así como en la descontaminación de aguas.

Los investigadores del grupo COMET-NANO de la Universidad Rey Juan Carlos (URJC) y la Universidad de Granada, en colaboración con el grupo de Biomateriales del Instituto Indio de Tecnología Química (IICT), han modificado la estructura, textura y composición de algunos nanomateriales tan extendidos como el óxido de titanio (utilizado actualmente en cremas solares como agente absorbente de rayos ultravioleta) para obtener nuevos nanosistemas. Estos materiales nanométricos (de menos de 100 nanómetros) son aplicables para la potabilización de aguas, y también en aplicaciones biológicas avanzadas. “Hemos estudiado las propiedades morfológicas de los nuevos materiales sintetizados, observando su modificación tras el dopaje con zinc, que ha sido determinada mediante microscopía de transmisión y que tiene una influencia clave en las propiedades biológicas de los materiales”, explica el Dr. Santiago Gómez Ruiz, coautor principal del estudio, investigador de la URJC y miembro del grupo COMET-NANO.

Post-Doctoral offer at CIMUS Research Center

Purpose
To participate in a Translational Research Project, entitled: “Delivery of Monoclonal Antibodies for Cancer Therapy”.

Duties and Responsibilities

  1. To design, plan and carry out the experiments necessary for the project.
  2. To write up reports, research papers and present research findings.
  3. To have initiative to solve problems independently, and work with a team environment.
  4. To keep up to date with current developments in subject field.
  5. To be responsible for day-to-day purchase of materials, and other routine activities necessary to run the project.

Requirements

  • PhD in an appropriate discipline (Biochemistry, Pharmacy, Biology, Biomedical Engineering…).
  • Experience in micro/nanoencapsulation, with emphasis in polymer-based delivery systems and encapsulation of biomolecules (antibodies, peptides, proteins, oligonucleotides, nucleic acids).
  • Experience in the analysis of biomolecules (Western Blot, ELISA, HPLC, LC-MS)
  • Capacity to develop compelling approaches and solutions to address project needs.
  • Ability to be productive in an intense work environment and deliver to specific deadlines.
  • Ability to keep accurate and detailed records of experiments.
  • Excellent writing and presentation skills.
  • Upper intermediate level of English or higher.

Funding and Duration
The post is funded for one year with the possibility to be extended.

Celebración del segundo taller Nanoparticles for Biomedical Applications

Ayer lunes 26 de junio, tuvo lugar en IMDEA Nanociencia la celebración el segundo taller Nanoparticles for Biomedical Applications, organizado por Lucía Gutiérrez (U. Zaragoza), M. Puerto Morales (ICMM-CSIC) y Gorka Salas (IMDEA Nanociencia). La jornada fue un éxito, con más de 60 asistentes.

Los ponentes mostraron los últimos avances en la investigación para emplear diversos nanomateriales (basados en polioxometalatos, óxidos de hierro, sílice y oro) en aplicaciones tan diversas como la imagen médica, el tratamiento de tumores o infecciones bacterianas, comprender la amiloidogénesis o evitar el deterioro del patrimonio cultural.
